This project was made by my partner and I. My partner did most of the writing aspects while I did the designs of the game and our company logo Neon Star. We first had to write a paper on a topic through an anthropological perspective. My partner wrote about Brexit and I wrote about taboos in culture. With both of our writings, we had to find a way to use both of them for our game. Since both have a connection of communication, we chose to do a game that involves true details, false details, and debating about the information given. Our game is about a group of four detectives trying to solve a case and the goal is to have all members make it to the final story. During the game, the players pick up statement cards and determine if it is true or false. This happens to the end and when they get to the final story, they use their statement cards to show what happened in the crime. However, there is only one true story and one detail can ruin the true story. This project used history/humanities/anthropology when we wrote the paper on the topic through an anthropological lens and allegory writing since board games are really allegories. This includes engineering when we built the physical board game with chipboard and laser cut wood to make the meeples (game pieces), and adobe illustrator. Finally, this project had math involved by calculating the probability of winning the game or losing.
This is the company logo I designed for my partner and I. I used my Surface Pro 6 to make the designs of our game. To make these, I used FireAlpaca, a free digital painting software. The logo is an astronaut because my partner likes to doodle space things like stars and planets and I like to draw people/characters.
